Welcome to our anniversary newsletter!

15 Years of Helping Families from Homelessness to Home

October 17, 2025 marks the 15 year anniversary for Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region! We’ll celebrate this milestone the 17th of each month with newsletter interviews with past guests, board members, and volunteers. Soon we’ll launch our new website. All this will culminate with an Anniversary Celebration on October 17. Save the date for our event. More details will follow. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

*The special 15th anniversary logo at the top of this newsletter was designed by one of our graduates, Johnathan. He was 8 when he was in the program and is now volunteering and giving back to help Family Promise.

Our History

Listen to a video from our founder, John Bechtel, as he shares memories of how FPHCR came to be.

John, thank you for taking this leap of faith. We all (including the hundreds of people touched by this program) are grateful!

Our Statistics

Knowing where you and your child(ren) will eat each day can be a huge stressor for a family experiencing homelessness.

At Family Promise HCR, we relieve families of that daily stress by providing home-cooked meals each night from caring volunteers. Yum! Thank you to all who have helped provide over 16,000 meals!

Our "Why"

"Family Promise is an incredible organization with a mission to walk alongside people. I have been a part of Family Promise locally and also in another state and each place has made a huge difference in the lives of families in transition for housing and economic stability.

"We always look forward to a week of hosting so we can laugh, play with the kids and hopefully be a temporary home away from home. We build relationships and care about each other. I believe this support given to families in times of need is so important that I said yes to joining the Board of Trustees. This helps me learn more about the real issues facing families in our area and trying to be part of the brainstorming and support to make a family's life just a little bit easier in a time of transition...one conversation at a time..."
